Trains are given new names, and people are encouraged to spend more time in nature
To promote interest in relaxing in nature and to remind people of the many benefits of forests on a daily basis, Vivi, in partnership with AS “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM, Latvian State Forests), is launching an initiative to name all 32 electric trains. Today, the first four names were announced – bite (bee), apodziņš (Eurasian pygmy owl), priede (pine), egle (spruce) – and a map was presented showing the recreational areas of AS “Latvijas valsts meži” that are easily accessible by train. Every month, names will be given to four more trains.

Vivi trains carried 4.6 million passengers in the first quarter; 98.5% of trips completed on time in March
In the first quarter of this year, Vivi carried 4.6 million train passengers. This is 2.5% or 120,000 fewer than in 2025, but 16% more than in 2024. The most significant decline in passenger numbers compared to 2025 is on the Tukums line. There, the number of passengers has fallen by 12.6% or more than 206,000, as the number of trips on the Tukums line was reduced due to repair work by VAS “Latvijas dzelzceļš”.
